Hola,
My name is Paula McDougall. I graduated from the University of Northern
Iowa in 1977 with a B.A. in Spanish and received my M.A. in 1997. I was selected as a McElroy Gold Star
Teacher in 2003. My personal love of the language
intertwines with my professional interests. I am a member of NEA (National Education
Association), ISEA (Iowa State Education Association), DEA (Dunkerton Education Association), IWLA (Iowa World Language Association) and Sigma Delta Pi (National
Spanish Honor Society). I have served on several committees for the DEA and presented
at IWLA conferences. My husband Randy and I live in Cedar Falls with our cats Sam & Sasha.

Active participation = Success in Spanish In each class, students will be learning
many aspects of the Spanish language including communicative skills (listening and speaking), oral and reading comprehension,
writing skills, geography of the Spanish-speaking world, history, and culture. Learning grammar rules and building vocabulary are extremely
important during each year of language instruction. Objectives Students
will be able to recognize, conjugate and use the following tenses of regular and irregular Spanish verbs: present tense including stem-changing
and reflexive verbs past and imperfect
tenses commands
and subjunctive mood Additionally,
students will be able to distinguish and properly use all parts of speech to form questions, idiomatic expressions,
as well as comparatives and superlatives in Spanish. Skits and art/writing
projects are examples of additional class assignments.
